Cowlitz Employment Support Services
Current Goals/Objectives :
It is the mission of Cowlitz Employment Support Services to provide holistic and culturally-responsive services to American Indians and Alaska Natives through guided pathways to housing, education, employment, careers, and self-sufficiency within all directions of their lives.
Services & Programs :
- Cowlitz Indian Tribe Vocational Rehabilitation (CITVR): Supported work experience, career, and education guidance, creating resumes, job readiness skills, job search, support services, work clothing and supplies, educational supplies, non-accredited certification /training opportunities, paid work experience, self-employment, wrap-around services, and holistic support.
- Cowlitz Career and Education Services (CCES): Career and education guidance, creating resumes, job readiness skills, job search, support services, work clothing and supplies, educational supplies, certification /training opportunities, mentorship program, paid work experience, self-employment, wrap-around services, and holistic support.
- Critical Transition Coaching (CTC): CTC services include rental assistance, utility assistance, transportation assistance (bus pass, gas cards, etc.), employment and/or educational materials, moving costs, some legal fees, childcare, medical and/or dental expenses (medical equipment, glasses, necessary medications), holistic support, wrap-around services, youth support during their transition to safe and stable housing, strengthen youth and young adults network of support within the community, and budget classes/support.
- Independent Housing Assistance (IHA): IHA services include rental assistance, utility assistance, transportation assistance (bus pass, gas cards, etc.), employment and/or educational materials, moving costs, some legal fees, childcare, medical and/or dental expenses (medical equipment, glasses, necessary medications), holistic support, wrap-around services, and budget classes/support. Typically, IHA will assist clients with a deposit and the first month's rent.

- have been diagnosed with a physical, mental, learning, or substance use disorder.
- the disability must create a barrier to obtaining or maintaining employment.
Requirements :
- enrolled Cowlitz Tribal Member within the United States.
- at least 16 years old
- unemployed or underemployed and seeking employment
Requirements :
- enrolled American Indian/Alaskan Native
- reside in Washington State
- facing homelessness
- American Indian/Alaska Native youth (13-17) and young adults (18-24) who will be exiting out of a system of care such as: jail, prison, foster care, mental health crisis center, or drug rehabilitation center into homelessness with 14 days: or have exited one of those listed facilities into homelessness within the last 12 months.
Requirements :
- enrolled American Indian/Alaskan Native
- reside in Clark, Cowlitz, Lewis, or Skamania County
- facing homelessness
- able to retain a job to sustain housing costs after initial IHA assistance.
