The Cowlitz Indian Tribe has four (4) open seats on the Strategic Planning Committee (SPC). The SPC is a standing advisory committee to the Cowlitz Tribal Council that works collaboratively with Tribal staff and a contracted strategic planning consultant to help develop and support the Tribe’s long-term Strategic Plan.
Committee members will:
- Help gather and review community, departmental, and stakeholder input
- Participate in surveys, forums, listening sessions, and planning discussions
- Review data, reports, and draft strategic priorities
- Provide recommendations to Tribal Council on long-term goals and priorities
- Help ensure General Council perspectives, cultural values, and community needs are reflected in the Strategic Plan
- Monitor high-level progress of the Strategic Plan and identify barriers or needed adjustments
The SPC serves in an advisory capacity only. Final decisions on priorities and implementation rest with the Tribal Council and Tribal Administration.
The Tribe may give preference to applicants with relevant experience in areas such as strategic planning, organizational development, community engagement, or governance. Submission of a resume or summary of experience may be requested to support the selection process.
Time Commitment: Approximately 1–2 meetings per month, held in person or virtually. Additional preparation time may be needed to review materials between meetings.
Stipend Amount for General Council Members: $100 per meeting. Stipends are grant-funded and will expire on September 30, 2028, unless extended by Tribal Council.
