Patty Kinswa-Gaiser, Chairwoman, Cowlitz Indian Tribe
General Council Chairwoman
I am from the Ike-Kinswa family, Taidnapaum, Upper Cowlitz
• I supported the mail in voting amendment.
• I support the membership attending tribal council meetings, either in person or virtual. We work for you!
• I support tribal members joining committees and boards regardless of their residency.
My path in the Cowlitz Tribe began as a child when my mother and father took me to the general council meetings in the old Cowlitz Prairie Grange. My job was to serve the Elders. I have been serving the Cowlitz people all my life, as a volunteer then as the Elders Program Manager.
Indian Child Welfare has been a big part of my life as well, serving on the newly formed Indian child Welfare Committee, LICWAC (Local Indian Child Welfare Advisory Committee). Currently serve as a QEW (Qualified Expert Witness) for Cowlitz children in the court system.
Culture is the tribe. Cultural education is essential, now with virtual the language and culture classes being available to all has been a great step for our people.
