Summary of this committee: The role of each individual is to evaluate legislation, determine what resources exist to cover costs of editing and/or developing Time Immemorial curriculum that can be used across school districts in our aboriginal territory. Make recommendations to Tribal Council and draft policies, procedures and/or bylaws as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
· Ability to work remotely.
· Active participation required.
· Recommend curriculum, lesson plans, instructional videos, slideshows, resources
· Evaluate and revise existing curriculum as needed.
· Research and recommend modern educational methods.
· Audit current courses and make recommendations for improvement
Desired skills and experience:
Any of the following skills and experience levels are desired. It is important to have a diverse committee with different skill sets including cultural and historical knowledge or/and education related experience.
· Skilled in identifying problems and brainstorming potential creative solutions.
· Excellent written and oral communication
· Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
· Possesses knowledge of historic and contemporary Indigenous issues, both general and Cowlitz Indian Tribe specific or is willing to learn.
· Professional and/or academic background in education, early childhood development, or a related field
· Understanding of different learning styles and teaching methods, including serving students who have different abilities and or how to tailor programs to serve students from historically marginalized communities.
Time Commitment: 2 Monthly meeting.
Stipend Amount: $100 per meeting
