Text Box: A change in plans for our new Tribal Health Clinic!
Text Box: The Cowlitz Indian Tribe received a major grant in 2006 to renovate a Tribally-owned vacant building at 1044 11th Avenue, Longview, for our new Health Clinic. However, there are now significant infrastructure and design problems with that building. Renovation does not make good business sense.

We plan to demolish the structure and build a new 12,000 square foot Clinic.

When the Clinic is completed, we will offer medical and mental health services, chemical dependency treatment, health education/wellness programs, and have space for future dental services. This will be a well-designed facility for patients and staff and it will be efficient to heat, cool, and maintain.

The Clinic project will cost about $1.6 million. We already have about 2/3 of the funding secured and are applying for a $500,000 federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant for construction.

The architect’s drawings for the Clinic are available for review at the Tribal Administration office and the Tribal Clinic at 1055 9th Avenue in Longview.

If you have comments and questions about the project or our grant application, please get in touch by Tuesday, June 12th.
