Description:
|
This event was established two years ago after longtime Chairman John Barnett passed on.
Chairman Barnett advocated and worked hard to promote revitalization of traditional culture life-ways and is the primary person responsible for the establishment of the Cowlitz Tribal Canoe Program.
Previous years have been a great success. Tribal Canoes have come from the Stó:lo Nation, Canada, the Lummi Nation, the Suquamish Tribe, and the Chehalis Tribe.
This event is intended to be a relaxing event which includes for fun canoe racing on Lake Mayfield for youth.
Leaders from Canoe families will be able to participate in the structure of the weekend festivities beginning Friday evening of September 10th. It is an opportunity to get together one last time before winter weather arrives.
I hope you join us for a weekend of drumming, singing and all around fun for all.
This event is a drug and alcohol free event.
