Frank’s Landing around Anderson Island Trip (Sunday)
|
|
Primary Pullers meet at the boat ramp at Frank’s Landing on the south side of the Nisqually Delta at 7:30am. Canoe departs at 8am and meets up with support boat (MV/UB) at approximately 9:30am west of Anderson Island. At noon we’ll stop at Eagle Island for lunch. 4pm will find us back at Frank’s landing.
Relief Pullers and support boat meet at the Harborview Marina at Gig Harbor before 7:00am, as the boat needs to leave around that time.
Directions to Frank’s Landing (for primary Pullers): In Olympia, turn east at the Highway 510 (Marvin Rd) exit. If you’re coming from the South, turn right. If you are coming from the north, turn left over the freeway. You will be on Marvin Rd. Take the next left at the light onto Martin Way E. Continue north about a mile then turn left onto Meridian Rd NE. This takes you back over the freeway to the west. Turn right at the circle intersection, which keeps you on Meridian Rd NE. Stay on this road until it Ts at 46th Ave NE. Turn right. Then take the first left onto D Milluhr Dr NE. This road will take you right down to the boat ramp.
Directions to Harborview Marina (for relief pullers and a few observers): From I-5, take exit 132 going westbound on highway 16 to Gig Harbor (10 miles). Take the second exit into Gig Harbor or take ramp heading toward City center. After off-ramp, take right onto Pioneer Way. Continue all the way to a T and then take a left onto Harborview Drive. It is just across the street from a Mexican restaurant. Adress is 3219 Harborview Dr, Gig Harbor, WA.

April 26

Squaxin Island, WA (Saturday)
|
|
Time: Meet at Arcadia Boat ramp at 9a. High tide is at 8:52a. This trip will take us around Squaxin Island and should have us back at the boat ramp by 1pm.
Directions: From I-5 in Olympia take highway 101 North towards Shelton. Just past the Casino, take a right at SE Lynch Rd. Stay on this road for about seven miles. When the road turns left stay to the right onto the smaller road. This is still Lynch. Continue on about a quarter mile and you’ll see a parking lot on the left. Pull in and park. The boat ramp is just a little further.

Beacon Rock, WA to Washougal, WA (Saturday)
|
|
Time: Meet at Port of Camas/Washougal at 8am on May 10; or meet at Beacon Rock State Park on Friday, May 9 if you plan to Camp overnight. The Canoe leaves Leave Beacon Rock at 9am Saturday and estimated arrival at Port of Camas around 2pm.
Directions: Beacon Rock State Park‑From Vancouver, WA take the SR-14 exit from I-205 and head East. Go about 35 miles and turn right at Woodward Creek Bridge; go to end of Moorage Rd.
Directions: Port of Camas/Washougal‑From Vancouver, WA take the SR-14 exit from I-205 and head East. Go about 9 1/2 miles and turn right onto Front St. Go .1 miles and take left on 2nd St. Launch is behind Port Office Building.
Camping information: There are camping areas at Beacon Rock State Park. It is on a first come first serve basis. Some people plan to arrive on May 9th and camp overnight (one night) before the pull on Saturday. Camping will be between 17 to 20 dollars a night per spot.

May 17 to 18
|
Elochomon to Vista park to Deep River (Sat & Sun)
|
|
Time: Meet at Vista Park on Friday, May 16; or meet by 9am on the 17th to Carpool to Elochoman. Canoe leaves Elochomon Marina at 10:30am and estimated arrival at Vista Park at 1pm (smaller trips will take place in the afternoon to and from Vista Park). Canoe leaves Vista Park at 8am on May 18 and estimated arrival at Deep River or Oneida Landing at 1pm.
Directions: Vista Park‑From Longview, WA head west on State Route 4 and go about 35 miles to Skamokawa, WA. turn South on School Rd to the Park.
Directions: Elochomon Marina‑From Longview, WA head west on SR-4 and go about 25 miles to Cathlamet, WA. Turn left onto Elm St. and go 1/3 mile and turn left onto S 2nd St. to the Boat ramp.
Directions: Deep River or Oneida Landing‑From Vista Park head west on SR-4 for about 20 miles to Rosburg, WA. You will cross over Deep River bridge and immediately take a left onto Onieda Rd. for 2 miles.
Camping Information: Plenty of Camping spots have been reserved at Vista Park for this trip. This is a two night camping trip.

Swift Reservoir, Lewis River, WA. (Saturday)
|
|
Time: Meet at Swift Forest Camp at 9 AM on May 31 or meet there on Friday, May 30 if you intend to Camp. Trips will go throughout the Day back and forth from here.
Directions: From 1-5, take exit 21 to Woodland, WA. Go West on Lewis River Rd. or Highway 503 all the way to Cougar, WA (~32 miles). Keep going, 503 turns into Forest Rd. 90 (continue for ~ 16 miles). Turn right at Swift Forest Camp ground. It is owned and managed by Pacificorp Co. Note: it is near Northwoods, WA.
Camping Information: It is listed as a first come first serve campground. Some people plan to Camp there on Friday May 30. Some people plan to camp over for two nights. I would call one of the contact numbers if you plan to camp here so we can attempt to save a spot for you.

Willow Grove, WA. (Sunday)
|

Time: Meet at Willow Grove Boat launch at 9am. There will be several trips throughout the Day for Tribal members, family, and friends to participate. Potluck around 12pm.
Directions: From 1_5 at Longview, WA, take exit 36 and merge onto WA-432 W toward Long Beach/Longview/WA-4. Take 3rd Ave exit toward Industrial Area/Port of Longview. Take a left and follow Industrial Way (which changes into Mt. Solo Rd) for about 6 miles. Turn left onto Willow Grove Rd. and follow for 3.3 miles to Park on the left.
Camping Information: No Camping is available at this site. There is no planned camping. There are a number of hotels and motels in Longview, WA, that can accommodate you. One of the closer hotels is the Best Western in Longview. Their website can help for obtaining a reservation.

Frank’s Landing, WA to Squaxin Island, WA

Time: Leave at noon. We will leave and return to this spot. It is estimated to arrive back at 4pm.

Riffe Lake, Cowlitz River, WA. (Saturday)
|
|
Time: Campers will begin arriving on Friday, June 20, 2008. Canoeing will go on all weekend with numerous chances for people to ride and pull in the Canoe. We hope you can come out. You can come for just a few hours or the full weekend. Lots of fun planned.
Directions: From I-5, take exit # 68 and go east on highway 12 for about 21 miles. Turn right on Williams St. (flashing yellow light). Continue several blocks on Williams Street to a “T” intersection in the town of Mossyrock. Turn left onto State St. Outside of town, State St. becomes Mossyrock Rd. East, and then Ajlune Rd. This road will lead you into the park.
Camping Information: Some people plan to camp out for the weekend (June 20 & 21) at Mossy Rock Park. Five Campsites (#s 2, 7, 8, 56, and 57 within the main campground site) have been reserved so far for Friday and Saturday night. Please call Gerry Brickey to try and get on the list for our reserved campsites. There are also a number of first come first serve campsites of which it is suggested to get there early on Friday to get a spot; or go to http://www.camis.com/WA/camping/maps.asp?loc=231 or call 1-888-226-7688 to reserve a spot if you wish.

July 5
|
Gig Harbor, WA to Fox Island, WA (Saturday)
|
|
Time: Meet at the Fox Island boat ramp at 11am then car pool to the Gig Harbor boat ramp. Canoe leaves Gig Harbor at noon and arrives at the Fox Island boat ramp at approximately 4pm.
Directions: From south or north I-5 take the Highway 16 exit to Bremerton and Gig Harbor. Route 16 will take you across the Narrows Bridge take the Olympic Exit. At the light turn left over the freeway. Continue straight thru the next light and the next. Stay on this road until you come to a T intersection (Wollochet Dr NW). Turn left and stay on this main road and you will get to the bridge to Fox Island. On the other side of the bridge on your right is the boat ramp. The right turn comes up very quick so be careful. Pull in and park.
Camping Information: There will be a one night Camp after the day trip at nearby Kopachuck State Park (July 5, 2008). Reservations have been made for a Group Campout at the site. It is five miles west of Gig Harbor. Take the second Gig Harbor exit off Highway 16. Look for the Kopachuck State Park sign. Take that exit and follow signs five miles to the park.

Canoe Family Journey (leave Squaxin Island, WA)

SPECIAL NOTE: The specifics of the Inter-Tribal Canoe Journey 2008 have not yet been finalized. The following is an estimate for places we are likely to travel to and from during the steps of the Inter-Tribal Canoe Journey.
If you wish to be part of the Canoe Journey (for any amount of time; i.e. one day or the whole journey); you can prepare now by scheduling vacation time during the last two weeks of July and/or the first week in August. As soon as more detail becomes available, the following information will be updated.
